“The Future Foretold: Lyndon B. Johnson’s Support for Israel in the Senate”

Olivia Sohns received her PhD in U.S. history from the University of Cambridge in 2014 and her bachelor’s degree in history from Stanford University in 2007. Her book manuscript is curently under review by Cornell University Press and she has numerous articles under consideration by major journals in her field. Previously, she was a postdoctoral fellow at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.

Dr. Sohns will discuss the history of U.S. relations with Israel. She will focus on the development of Senator Democratic Majority Leader Lyndon Johnson’s devotion to Israel and his ties to Israeli ambassador to the United States Abba Eban.
