In keeping with its mission, the Glasscock Center is committed to enhancing undergraduate education in the humanities through several different kinds of initiatives.

  • Individual grants are awarded annually to humanities majors for specific research projects through Undergraduate Research Grants and through University Undergraduate Research Fellows Grants that are made jointly with the Office of Honors Programs and Academic Scholarships
  • The Glasscock Challenge Scholarship offers a three-year scholarship to an outstanding honors-eligible student majoring in a science or technology field who wants to pursue serious coursework in the humanities beyond core curriculum requirements
  • Apprenticeships in the Glasscock Center involve Liberal Arts majors in all aspects of life in the Center and provide opportunities to meet with visiting scholars, attend Center events, and serve as liaisons with other undergraduates
  • Apprenticeships with the Texas A&M University Press give Liberal Arts undergraduates direct experience of publishing, the premier outlet for humanities research, in all its facets from acquisitions to marketing
  • The Thematic Research Course Grant supports the design and implementation of advanced-level research courses that engage the Center’s current theme and foster related research by undergraduates
  • The College of Liberal Arts’ Summer Undergraduate Research Program, in which faculty and graduate students mentor promising undergraduates, receives funding from the Glasscock Center to support students working on humanities research projects
