About: Twice a year, the Glasscock Center offers awards of up to $500 to undergraduate students in any department or major at Texas A&M University to help support their work on humanities-related research projects. Applicants may seek support for such activities as travel to archives or libraries, fieldwork for collection of data, an internship with a research component to it, copying of materials, purchase of books or other materials necessary for research, travel to academic conferences for presentation of research results; support for collaborative research (primarily between students), and other research-related activities. Please contact the Center if you have any questions about the nature of humanistic research or the use of funds. Please check with Student Financial Aid to confirm that your financial aid will not be affected by the receipt of this or other awards. Students are strongly encouraged to participate in Student Research Week, which occurs each March. This event showcases research occurring on the Texas A&M University campus with an emphasis on research in which students participate, and it provides a venue for students to present their work to the university community. See http://srw.tamu.edu for details.
Eligibility: Undergraduate students in good standing are urged to apply for up to $500. Students will normally be eligible to receive no more than two Undergraduate Research Awards over the course of their undergraduate careers. Students are not eligible for funding more than once within any academic year.
Deadline: 5:00 p.m., 10 September 2009

About: Each spring, the Glasscock Center appoints students in the College of Liberal Arts to serve as paid Apprentices in the Center. In addition to assisting with routine office tasks, apprentices are included in activities such as social events with visiting scholars, are encouraged to participate in the Center’s sponsored events as part of their work for the Center, and serve as liaisons with the undergraduate community on campus. Apprentices are encouraged to suggest programs, activities, projects, and funding opportunities that will benefit undergraduates. The Center’s staff is committed to involving the Apprentices in the workings of the Center.
Eligibility: Undergraduate students in the College of Liberal Arts who are in good standing, who have a demonstrated commitment to humanities research, and who have an interest in learning about the operation of a research center are encouraged to apply. The Center works with the College of Liberal Arts Cornerstone program, the Regents Scholars program, and the College of Liberal Arts Honors program and other groups to identify potential applicants.
Deadline: Applications for 2008-09 will be available on-line after spring break. Interviews will be conducted and decisions made by the end of classes.
